About the author
Twenty years of listening.
One shared belief.
I'm Dr. Shalini Chawla — a psychiatrist by training, a mother by heart, and a writer by necessity. For the last two decades, I've had the privilege of sitting across from children, teenagers, and adults during some of the most tender chapters of their lives.
Somewhere along the way, I noticed a quiet gap. The families who left my office carrying a diagnosis often needed something to take home — not another textbook, and not a pamphlet. They needed a companion. Something honest, warm, and rigorous. Something that respected both the science and the soul of what they were living through.
These books are that companion. Written in the same voice I use in the therapy room, they meet you where you are — whether you're a parent reading by lamplight at 2 a.m., a clinician sharpening your practice, or a teenager who just needs to know you aren't broken.
